Lead Vocals: Rob Thomas
Robert Kelly Thomas was born on February 14, 1972 on a military base in Landstuhl, Germany. He grew up in Florida, attending Lake Brantley High School. At age 13 he stated his desire to become a musician. The first concert he attended was Genesis on its Invisible Touch Tour. His greatest influence is Steve Burry. He has been married to Marisol Maldonado since 1999, and has a son named Maison Avery from a former relationship.
On April 19, 2005, he released a solo album, ...Something to Be. This marked the first time that a male artist from a rock or pop group has debuted at No 1 with their first solo album since Billboard introduced the chart 50 years ago. His first single off that album, "Lonely No More", reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The aforementioned single debuted in the Top 10 of the Australian ARIAnet singles chart on the week of April 4, 2005. The second single, "This Is How A Heart Breaks", which was used during a majority of telecasts for ABC's coverage of the NBA Playoffs, has started hitting the Top 30 on various Canadian charts. On July 2, 2005 Rob appeared at the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia. Rob also appeared on the Sept 10, 2005 MTV Katrina Relief Concert. On October 5, 2005, Rob started his first solo tour.
Lead Guitarist: Kyle Cook
David Kyle Cook was born on August 29, 1975. He plays lead guitar, banjo and does backing vocals for the band.
He married his wife Sabrina in July 1999. They have a little girl. He played classical violin for 5 years before learning guitar. His 1st guitar was a classical. His favourite song of matchbox twenty is "Girl Like That"
As a solo artist he is guitarist for the band "The New Left".
Rhythm Guitarist: Adam Gaynor
Adam Gaynor was born on November 26, 1963. He did backing vocals and played rhythm guitar for the band. In February 2005 he officially left the group.
He taught himself to play the guitar and he went to college in Texas. His nickname is "Hash Brown" because of the many breakfast diners the band ate at while on tour. If he could tour with anybody in history it would be Jimi Hendrix.
He's been working on an album. On his website adamgaynor.net there are three songs to listen to. All your Life, Stunning Point of View, and Audry.
Bassist: Brian Yale
Brian Yale was born on November 14, 1968 and plays bass guitar for the band. He is engaged to his longtime girlfriend of 9 years, Sarah Schultz.
His nickname is "Pookie" and he loves golf. He used to be in the band "Tabitha's Secret" with Rob Thomas and Paul Doucette. (they ended that band to form Matchbox Twenty)
Drummer: Paul Doucette
Paul John Doucette was born on August 22, 1972 and is the drummer for the band. It has been said that Paul came up with the name matchbox twenty.
He now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. He likes to play drums barefoot. He prefers to play in corner pubs and crowded bars. His heroes are drummers Charlie Watts and Jim Keltner.
It has been rumored that Paul may play the guitar in matchbox twenty's new line up to replace former rhythm guitarist Adam Gaynor.
Paul is married to writer/actress/singer Moon Unit Zappa and they had a child, Mathilda Plum Doucette on December 21st 2004, the same date Frank Zappa was born on in 1940.
